PAM Tomlinson, the Saddleworth lady-captain, has a varied schedule of events lined up for her time in office.
A member of the Mountain Ash course for 23 years, the 19-handicapper has been surprised at what the job entails. “It’s a big commitment to take on, but I’m enjoying it,.” she said.
Husband Barry is also a member at Saddleworth and plays Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while Pam plays on Thursdays.
Her chosen charity for the year is the Alzheimer’s Society. One fund-raiser at the club was a fashion show attended by 90 people, and next is a talk by Helen Morris of the Alzheimer’s Society (September 24).
The 64-year-old golfer is following a great family tradition at Saddleworth. Pam’s father Eric Entwistle was a former president, as was her brother Allan.
