BOWLS:
SPRINGBANK ‘A’ denied Ashton Cricket a successive Law Swallow Cups with a 187-175 win in the final at Friezland Bowling Club.
’Bank, who gave their opponents a one-point start, ran in three out of the first four blocks to take an early 16-point lead in the Saddleworth Bowling League competition. They also had three out of the second four, but were only 11 in front with two blocks to go.
Father and son Alan and Martin Hodson had to score 16 each to take the trophy and although the latter lost 21-15, the former played well to overcome Charlie Roberts.
