OLDHAM were on the wrong end of a batting onslaught in a Lake Garage CLL Championship fixture which produced a massive 685 runs under blue skies.

Milnrow's Ladyhouse ground was the venue for an amazing fixture which saw the hosts bat first and rattle up 454-4. Professional James Price scored his second double hundred in a matter of weeks, smashing 233 off only 117 balls. He crashed nine sixes and 22 fours.

Fellow opener Lee Crabtree hit 116, which featured three sixes and 10 fours.

Commendably, Oldham reached 231 in reply, Anwar Ul-Haq making 82 and Ashar Eric 68.

Leaders Crompton were made of the Wright stuff as they saw off Elton at Glebe Street.

Brothers Simon (68) and Steven Wright (32) shared an unbroken stand of 71 as Crompton made 188 for four.

Denis Louis made 55 for the hosts who recovered from 28 for three, while Paul Challinor scored 68 in Elton's 186. Mel Whittle took five for 74 and Andy Yates three for 24.

With second-placed Middleton losing at home to Ashton, Heyside had the chance to boost their promotion hopes. But they fluffed their lines in a two-wicket defeat at Radcliffe.
