BRIGHT lights are about to shine down on Hollinwood Cricket Club.
Starting tonight, a floodlit competition featuring eight teams will take place at Lime Lane.
International stars such as Pakistani trio Abdul Razzaq, Bilawal Bhatti and Awais Zia will appear alongside top amateurs.
The teams, some from Bradford and Stoke, are setting their sights on a £500 first prize. Competing in two groups of four, the winners of each will go through to next Monday’s final.
The games this week (Monday-Friday) start at 6.30pm and 8.30pm and are of 15 overs per side. The final, which gets under way at 7pm, is 20 overs a side. Coloured clothing will be worn and a white ball used. The ground will be illuminated by six towers of lights and entry costs £1.
Abid Riaz, who organised a similar event in Bolton, said: “We’re hoping for a good response from people as it a chance to see top-quality players, playing some exciting cricket.”
