DOWN TO BUSINESS: Mohammed Naveed of Pro Elite Sports and Eddie Bayliss, the Saddleworth League chairman, conduct the draw for Twenty20 finals day.
CRICKET:
IF they don’t already, Saddleworth and Greenfield will know each other’s games inside out by the end of the season.
They will meet for the FOURTH time in 2015 on August 31 on Twenty20 finals day. The last-four draw was made by Mohammed Naveed of sponsors Pro-Elite Sports, and Saddleworth and District Cricket League chairman Eddie Bayliss.
Finals days, at a venue to be decided, start at 10.30am with outsiders Shaw against Moorside.
Saddleworth and Greenfield renew their rivalry at 1.30pm, with the final from 4.30pm.
Before thoughts turn to the T20, the valley clubs will lock horns in the Tanner Cup final on August 16.
They met twice in the league in May, the traditional Whit double-header ending in a win each.
As for the Shaw v Moorside encounter, the former look as though they have it all to do against the title hopefuls. Shaw - below mid-table with five league wins in 16 games - are previous winners when in 2007 they defeated Friarmere by 34 runs.Moorside reached finals in 2010 and 2013, but lost both times to winners Heyside.
Saddleworth won the inaugural T20 final nine years ago and added a second title in 2011.
Greenfield didn’t enter the competition in its early days and are hoping for their first win in the slog-fest.
GLODWICK have drawn first blood in this season’s Moore Cup final against Whalley Range. The Warren Lane club won the toss to host the showdown on August 9.
