BARBARA Whiting was a clear winner of the Lady-Captain’s competition at Werneth - a major board event.
She produced rounds of 91-20-71 and 93-20-73 for a total of nett 144 to triumph over two days of golf.
Runner-up was Sheila Antrobus (97-19-78 and 91-19-72 for 150).
The day one first division prize went to Sheila Waterhouse with 95-26-69, while second division honours were achieved by Madge Griffiths after a round of 103-29-74. Day two first division plaudits were clinched by Pat Grant thanks to a return of 100-24-76.
The second division prize was won by Marianne Pickford, who won a card play-off following her round of 111-33-78. The nine-hole competition was won by Audrey Price, while the putting prize was secured by Dee Whittingham. CROMPTON and Royton staged Mr Captain’s Prize in contrasting conditions over two weeks.
Winner with an aggregate score of 197-45-152 was Joyce Adams, while second place went to the club’s newest female member, Debbie Field, with 214-60-154.
First-day prize was won by Brenda Bellis (93-20-73), and second-day honours went to Audrey Whittaker (105-26-79).
