ANGLING: THOUGH the carp aren’t feeding on Tanner’s Dam at present, the silvers are more than making up for it
Anglers bagged some cracking weights in the latest Diggle AC Tuesday evening match. Martin Taylor (Matrix Halifax) topped the weights with a super 16lb 14oz net, edging out the winner of the previous two matches, Dave Machin, with 16lb 3oz of silvers.
Ian Hirst is also doing well in these matches as he took another third place with 9lb 4oz of maggot-tempted silvers.
TONY Simcock (Tight Lines, Shaw) topped the latest Medlock Bridge AC Saturday open match on the Park Lake. Favoured peg 16 again came up trumps as he netted a 3lb tench and some smaller samples as well as f1s to make the 2lb 8oz mark, all adding up to 11lb 10oz.
Second was Pete Cuniffe with his hemp and caster-taken net of f1s and small fish, weighing in at a level 11lb.
MONDAY’S Medlock Bridge AC open saw better weights, but the lake still isn’t fishing as well as it can.
Joe Rowan was the top scorer, with pole and maggot getting him 16lb 13oz of decent sized f1s, skimmers and roach. Jonny Broadbent was second with maggot and pellet taking 12lb 13oz of f1s and bream.
PETER Hill took first place in the latest of the Twingates AC OAP’s matches with a 21lb 14oz net including ide, skimmers and stockie carp that all fell to pole, maggot and pellet.
Last week’s winner, Pete Cuniffe, had to settle for second with his 16lb 15oz of mostly skimmers falling to his tried and trusted hemp and caster.
DAVE Ireland fished chopped worm and caster up in the water and down on the deck to win the latest of the Twingates evening matches on the club water. He bagged 12lb 4oz of ide, roach and skimmers.
Tony Holden was second with an 11lb 9oz catch of ide and skimmers taken on similar tactics, with Geoff Ogden (Tight Lines, Shaw) in third with 9lb 1oz of ide and skimmers.
BEN Summerscales took first place in the Todmorden AS match on Townhouse with pellet fished shallow working well for his 52lb 12oz of carp. Pete Mottram is always in the money on these matches, and continued that run with a second-placed 26lb 8oz net of carp that fell to the tip and
pellet.
Mottram stepped up a place to first in the Tuesday evening match on Croft with pole and chopped worm catching him 28lb 13oz of mostly carp. The next Tuesday match on Croft is on July 7; the next junior match on July 3.
