All eyes on Merit final

BOWLS:
THERE is lots of local interest in the finals of the Greater Manchester Merit at the Legh Arms, Sale, tomorrow (11.30am).
Nimble Nook will be represented by Gary Ellis, Matt Gillies and Darren Griffiths, while Steve Copeland flies the flag for Springbank, and Darren Wardle, Bradley Cooke and Steve Squire are contenders for Tonge.
The two finalists and winner of a third-place play-off will earn places in the All-England Merit, while the winner books a spot in the Champion Of Champions event in Blackpool in the autumn.
FAILSWORTH League President’s Handicap finals will take place at Nimble Nook on Sunday (noon) when the players involved are G Flint, T Armour, M Flitcroft, A Bidwell, D Roberts, F Cassidy, I Gorbutt and M Doherty.
HEATS continue in the Thwaites men’s pairs and AC Ventilation women’s pairs at Norden on Sunday (5.30pm) There are still vacancies for June 28, July 19 and August 2. Information from Steve or Jean on 01706 527219 or 0776 7674699.
