VICTORIES for Shaw’s first and second Xls in the league on Saturday were preceded by success in round one of the Pro Elite Sports Twenty20 Competition.
Callum Jones, with three for 21, and skipper Kane Fullalove’s haul of two for 17 restricted opponents Droylsden to 137 for eight at Oakfield. Pip Taylor then made 67 in reply as Shaw won with two wickets and an over remaining.
West Indian overseas amateur Darius Cummins hit 39 out of 140 as his Friarmere team beat Stayley by one run at Slack Lane.
Spare a thought for visiting professional Hamza Nadeem. The Pakistani professional took three for 16 and struck an unbeaten 83, but his efforts were in vain.
The Hodnett brothers, Grant and Kyle, were to the fore in Moorside’s nine-wicket defeat of holders Uppermill at Leefields. Kyle claimed a hat-trick in figures of three for 16 and paid man Grant was unbeaten on 64 in chasing down 111 for victory.
Another pro, Imran Aslam, struck 62 not out as Saddleworth brushed aside Wythenshawe (73 all out) by 10 wickets at Longley Lane.
Captain Franco Lenhardt was unbeaten on 60 and Shahid Mahmood scored 56 for Glodwick, who overhauled Whalley Range’s total of 167 for eight with five wickets to spare.
Meanwhile, Alex Peters hit 64 not out to lead Greenfield to a nine-wicket success at Micklehurst, who were dismissed for 138.
