Four spots to fill in Green Final

BOWLS

THE last four places in this year’s Green Final Bowling Handicap finals are up for grabs tonight.

Four venues will see 32 bowlers trying to qualify for the climax of the Chronicle competition at Royton CC on Saturday, July 4.

The venues and players involved are below. Play starts at 7pm and practice is from 6.30.

o TONGE enjoyed a crushing victory at home to Sale XL in the Manchester Premier League.

The high-fliers had eight winners in an impressive 11-3 (196-138) triumph.

They were Jimmy Derby (21-13), Matt Gillies (21-12), Gary Ellis (21-12); Nigel Greenhalgh (21-15); Donny Wilkinson (21-18), Gary Smith (21-10), Steve Leach (21-9) and Thomas Dobson (21-7).

Tonge now face a two-week break before returning to action with a home clash against Tottington on Wednesday, July 1.

o SIX local women helped Greater Manchester to a 445-423 success over North Warwickshire.

The successful group, who all won at Springbank, were —

Margaret Brooks (Grapes) 21-4; Sophie Rigney (Springbank) 21-12; Janet Taylor (Dobcross) 21-20; Karen Houlston (Delph) 21-10; Chris Kewley (Springbank) (21-15); Rachel Fish (Delph) 21-13.

Greater Mancheter’s next match is against Yorkshire on Sunday, June 28.
