ROAD RUNNERS

ROYTON Road Runners dominated the field at the recent Milltown Oldham 7k, Dovestone Diamond in Greenfield and Littleborough 5k, where 78 club members made up more than 50-per-cent of the field.

Daniel McManus has played a starring role. He was the second Royton finisher at Oldham (third overall) behind Phil Marsden, first at Dovestones (10th overall) and first at Littleborough (fifth overall).

Meanwhile, the Road Runners take a break from a testing series of recent races with the annual parkrun day tomorrow at Alexandra Park.

The Road Runners will be out in force, aiming to help Oldham parkrun beat its current attendance record of 215, set at last year’s event.

Some runners will be using this run as part of their training for the Royton trail multi-terrain race, which this year takes place on Wednesday, July 1.

This popular event, now in its ninth year, starts at the Tandle Hill Tavern on Thornham Lane and is run on an undulating course in and around Tandle Hill country park.
