UPPERMILL Ladies have stormed to their first-ever Greater Manchester Women’s League title.
A dramatic 2-1 victory, secured thanks to goals from Ashleigh Jackson and Amy Howard, clinched the Division Two crown with a game to spare following what has been a terrific campaign, their seventh in the league.
Player-manager Caroline Pinches, who won the division’s player-of-the-year award, said: “We’ve got a great bunch of girls in the squad.
“We get on really well on and off the pitch and that team spirit has been a major factor in us winning the title.
“There are no stand-out individuals in the squad.
“Everyone has played their part in a collective effort. Each squad member has stepped up to the plate when called upon.”
Uppermill could go on to seal a dream trophy treble.
They are still looking forward to semi-final ties in the League Challenge Cup and the Divisional Trophy.
