Five-try Dom sinks Widnes

DOMINIC Bryan was the star of the show for Oldham St Anne’s ‘A’ team as they held on to beat a determined Widnes Tigers 36-34 in the North-West Men’s League Division Two.
Within minutes of the kick-off, Nathan Jewitt touched down, before Bryan scored the first first of three first-half tries.
Josh Berry slotted over two conversions, with Martin Swain adding a third, and with two converted tries from the visitors, the teams turned around with the Saints leading 22-12.
From the restart, scrum-half Andy Sheridan led the Tigers into action and following two tries and a conversion, the game was all square at 22-22.
Saints regained the initiative when Bryan touched down for his fourth try, followed shortly by a Ryan Powell effort.
Swain’s conversion saw Saints surge into a 32-22 lead.
In the closing minutes, the Tigers stunned Saints with a couple of late converted tries to take the lead 34-32, but in the dying seconds that man Bryan popped up again to bag his fifth try and secure a hard-earned victory for the hosts following a thrilling clash.
