HEYSIDE booked their place in the quarter-finals of the JW Lees Bitter Tom Hardman Twenty20 Competition with a 10-wicket demolition of neighbours Crompton at Glebe Street.
Despite Josh Tolley’s knock of 43, Crompton were restricted to 114 for four.
That target proved a breeze for Heyside, who cruised to victory with five overs to spare thanks to Ben Holt’s unbeaten 64 and 42 not out from Steven Firth.
Royton kept alive their qualification hopes with a nine-wicket win against Oldham at the Pollards.
The hosts were skittled for 96, a total Royton passed for the loss of a single wicket.
Werneth were brushed aside by reigning champions Norden at the Coppice.
After being starved of runs in their meagre 68 for nine, Werneth saw Norden race to 72 for one with professional Daniel Salpietro hitting 47 not out.
Scores –
Werneth 68-9, Norden 72-1 (Salpietro 47 n.o.); Crompton 111-4 (Tolley 43), Heyside 113-0 (Holt 64 n.o, Firth 42 n.o.); Clifton 126-7, Heywood 118; Oldham 96, Royton 97-1; Elton 127-6, Radcliffe 130-2.
