A BRILLIANT knock of 157 from skipper Arron Lilley could not prevent Delph from exiting the Heavy Woollen Cup at the hands of Bradford League oufit Gomersal yesterday.
The Lancashire all-rounder smashed half-a-dozen sixes and 22 fours in rapid 86-ball innings, only for his side to fail by four runs to overhaul the hosts’ total of 289 for seven.
Delph had better luck on Saturday in the Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership as they picked up six points courtesy of a seven-wicket defeat of Honley.
Greg Buckley was the star performer. He struck an unbeaten 92 in chasing down the home side’s score of 173 for six.
WOODHOUSES are off the mark in the Greene King Lancashire County League at the seventh attempt.
Batting first, the Belfields club were dismissed for 154 at Roe Green, who were then skittled for 115 in reply.
The win lifted Woodhouses off the bottom of the table.
