Angling: FENTON Tenant has a fine record in the SADAS members-only matches — and he enhanced his reputation with another win on Eagle Mill Dam.
Using the caster at nine and 11 metres, he caught a 2lb 8oz chub, a golden orfe of 2lb, a 1lb crucian and some bream for a 12lb 6oz bag.
Travelling partner Brian Murphy boasted a similar net, which included a 2lb tench and some bream on pole-fished caster for a level 7lb.
There are two changes to the diary for SADAS matches. The fixture scheduled for July 12, has been brought forward to June 28, while the match on September 13 has been moved to July 26.
JAMES Cantello led a Tri-Cast rout in the first of the Thursday evening open matches on different lengths of the Ashton Canal.
This match on the Scrapyard length fished well. Cantello weighed in 9lb 6oz of skimmers taken on bread punch over liquidised bread. Organiser Shaun Paddon was second with a similar catch of 6lb 12oz.
Weights were even better in the latest open match on the Ashton Canal, on the Lumb Lane wide pegs.
Paddon (Tri-Cast Rochdale) went one better as he scaled three decent bream and roach for a match-winning 11lb 12oz. Ken Power (Tri-Cast Highfield) opted for groundbait and red maggot over the top and for bream in a second-best net of 10lb 10oz.
STEVE Baines is proving unstoppable in the Twingates AC Tuesday matches. He took a third win on the trot with corn tempting a 5lb carp while shallow-fished maggot enticed plenty of skimmers and ide for an 11lb net.
Dave Ireland wasn’t too far behind. He had 9lb 6oz of ide, roach and skimmers thanks to pole-fished maggot.
RAY Rigby was first in the Old Hough Farm Fishery open. He recorded 94lb 14oz of mirrors and f1s taken on meat and pellet at 14 metres.
Lewis Breeze was second-best. His method feeder tactics tempted 71lb of carp. Section winners were England women’s international Wendy Locker with 21lb 9oz and Failsworth angler Ken Power (Tri-Cast Highfield) with 29lb 8oz.
THOUGH the weather was chilly, the Alexandra Park Lake fished quite well for the Medlock Bridge AC open match.
The winner, Simon Cook, drew red-hot peg 16 next to the footbridge, where he employed worm for small tench and some f1s in the 2lb to 3lb bracket for 14lb 6oz.
Tom Brownbill (Maver NW) used a maggot feeder for some decent bream to 3lb which, added to a few roach, made up to 12lb 10oz.
ROB McKendry was first in a weather-hit Todmorden AS members match on Croft. Using the pellet waggler, he took 3lb 5oz of carp to deny Peter Fitton’s 30lb 6oz effort. He also opted for waggler to attract carp.
Todmorden AS has another away-day planned for June 14 at Thirsk’s Woodlands Fisheries. Members must book in advance.
TOWNHOUSE fished okay for the latest Todmorden AS members-only match. Rob McKendry netted first place with 69lb 14oz of carp on pellet fished shallow. Adam Kitson had 54lb 4oz of pellet-enticed carp.
