SKIPPER Ryan Barnes led by example as Heyside made it two wins from two in the JW Lees Bitter Tom Hardman Twenty20 Competition.
Barnes smashed an unbeaten 72, which included two sixes and eight fours, as Heyside reached 141 for five at home to Milnrow. Matthew Chadwick gave him fine support with 28 not out. Earlier, visiting paid man James Price cracked 53 off 30 balls in Milnrow's 140 all out.
The other three local sides in action – Oldham, Werneth and Royton – each lost. Oldham were soundly beaten by Rochdale at Redbrook, where the hosts made 134 for two, Marradon Bend hitting an undefeated 54 from 45 balls and Andrew Dawson 45 not out from 40.
In reply, Oldham were restricted to 83 for eight, paid man Aneeq Hassan top scoring with 23.
Royton succumbed to Unsworth at the Paddock, the visitors making 118 for seven in reply to their hosts' 117 all out.
Werneth, meanwhile, went down by 35 runs at Radcliffe, who batted first and amassed a very useful 149 for nine. Werneth were bowled out for 114.
