Ryan Davies: great form.
SNOOKER:
OLDHAM Snooker Academy starlet Ryan Davies underlined his huge potential with victory in the EASB’s Regional Junior Tour competition in Liverpool.
There were three Oldham representatives – Ryan, Ben Murphy and Saif Amin – in the under-21 event, which attracted 20 entrants.
Ben failed to get out of his group, but Saif topped his section before losing to Ryan in the quarter-finals. And Ryan went from strength to strength, reaching the final in which he beat the much-fancied Adam Morrey.
Ryan, who recently made a century in a competition in Leeds, is well on the way to joining his brother Aaron and fellow Oldham Academy player Josh Cooper on the Premier Junior Tour.
CHADDERTON Reform are riding high in the Oldham Amateur Snooker League.
They joined North Chadderton ‘A’ at the summit after an emphatic 5-1 victory at home to Blue Club ‘A’.
Reform were denied the whitewash by John Whitworth, who clinched frame two.
Royton Band remain the team to catch at the top of the cards section, with North Chadderton ‘B’ one point adrift in second place.
Stanley Road ‘B’ climbed to third spot thanks to a 4-0 success over Three Cs ‘B’.
