BOWLS:
GARY ELLIS’S domination of the open handicap circuit shows no sign of ending.
The Tonge and Nimble Nook star has been winning tournaments with monotonous regularity, including two more big prizes at the weekend.
On Saturday was the Grange Classic at Stockport. In clinching the top prize of £1,200, he saw off the challenge of a top-class field.
Ellis picked up another £1,000 when he landed the top prize in the Wharton Cons Classic 24 hours later.
NORTH Chadderton Social and Bowling Club produced a shock in the semi-finals of the Greater Manchester Premier Cup, defeating Hopwood Unionist Club in the semi-finals.
They held their opponents, from a division higher in the Chadderton League, to all square in the away leg in Heywood.
They completed the job at North Chadderton with a five-chalks verdict.
