RUNNING:
PROLIFIC winner Adam Howard stormed to victory in the North of England Cross-Country Championships in Sunderland.
The Oldham and Royton Harrier blew away the opposition in the under-15s section.
Over a 4.25 kilometre course, Howard crossed the line in 14 minutes, 38 seconds — 10 seconds clear of the runner-up.
Harriers team-mate Ben Davies-Rice had a good run to finish 101st in 19:11.
Howard has enjoyed another fine cross-country season.
The 15-year-old claimed the Red Rose League under-15s individual title for the second year on the trot before Christmas and 3k McCain Liverpool Cross-Challenge at Sefton Park.
In the under-13 boys’ 3km race, Christopher Brown claimed the bronze medal after a sprint finish in 10:19. Joshua Lamanna was 89th in 12:15.
Leah Macdonald was 90th in 12:50 in the under-13 girls’ race, followed by Georgina Ragan in 126th in 13:45.
Brian Schofield had a good run in the senior men’s race to come home 354th in 58:13.
