Chadds held at home

AMATEUR FOOTBALL: CHADDERTONIANS were held to a 3-3 draw at home to lowly Radcliffe Town in the Lancashire Amateur Premier Division.

Gary Pickup gave Chadds an early lead with a powerful 25-yard drive, before an own goal levelled matters.

Jack Barnes and Martin Kitson strikes in the second half to put the hosts in the driving seat, but two goals in five minutes put Town back in the game.

Chadds piled forward for the final 20 minutes but could not find a winner.

Division Two action saw Chadds’ reserves lose 4-3 at high-flying Roach Dynamos.

Shem Arrianne scored twice for the away side, with Jordan Scholes joining him on the scoresheet.

The ‘A’ team lost 6-3 at home to leaders North Walden in Division Three.

On the mark for Chadds were Jak O’Dea, Dean McAuley and Warren Griffith.


AFC OLDHAM won 2-0 at Avro reserves in the Manchester Amateur Cup.
In a close first half, Callum Franklin had the best chance for the visitors, but his attempt was cleared off the line.

Plenty of possession after the break was finally rewarded in the 87th minute when Franklin put AFC Oldham in front, finishing off a fine team move.

Michael Shepherd’s breakaway goal sealed the victory for the away side.

In Division ‘C’, Santos reserves romped to a 7-0 victory over Govan Athletic reserves.

Jonny Phillips bagged a hat-trick for Santos.

Simon Dewar scored twice, and Paul Marsh and Thomas Rothwell also got in on the act as the hosts cruised to victory.


HOLLINWOOD earned a surprise 3-1 victory over Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Premier Division rivals Springhead, in the Gilgryst Cup quarter-final.
Top flight action saw Avro return to the top of the table with a 5-2 victory at Atherton.

Phil Brown’s side lead second-placed Manchester Gregorians by one point, and have two games in hand on second-placed Manchester Gregorians and Hindsford, who are third.

Elsewhere, Springhead reserves enjoyed a 3-1 victory over Rochdale Sacred Heart reserves in Division Two.
