Special Kay’s Mossley double

NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY eased to a 3-0 win over Harrogate Railway Athletic in Evo-Stik League Division One North.
Matty Kay opened the scoring at Seel Park with the last kick of the first half, following constant pressure from the hosts.
Kristian Dennis gave the Lilywhites a two-goal cushion when he pounced just after the hour mark.
Mossley were reduced to 10 men in the 80th minute when Ben Richardson was given his marching orders for two bookable offences.
The first yellow card was for time-wasting, the second for dissent following an argument with the referee.
But Shaun Higgins' men continued to press their opponents and Kay completed his brace with three minutes remaining.
Mossley have now lost just once in the last 10 games.
Higgins said: "We are happy to keep the run going. If we can repeat the pattern in the next 10 matches, we should be right there in the shake-up.”
The manager was also happy to see Dennis continue his impressive run of goal-scoring form since his switch from Woodley Sports at the end of last year.
"Kristian is scoring a lot of goals for us. It wasn't his best game, but he put one in at an important stage,” he said.
However, Higgins was unimpressed with the decision to dismiss Richardson.
He added: "The first booking was the harsh one because he picked up the wrong ball for a throw-in. It was a flat ball and there was a bit of confusion.
“Before it was rectified he was shown a yellow for time-wasting."
OLDHAM Boro’s game at Leek CSOB in the Vodkat North-West Counties League was postponed due to a frozen playing surface.
