NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY hit back from a goal down to draw 1-1 at home to Warrington Town in Evo-Stik League Division One North.
The visitors opened the scoring after two minutes through former Lilywhite Gavin Salmon, who smashed the ball home from close range following a scramble in the box.
In-form striker Kristian Dennis came close to levelling matters with a powerful free-kick, but it was tipped around the post by goalkeeper Paul Pritchard.
Chris Rowney popped up with the equaliser after 25 minutes, with a fine header from Mike Fish's deep delivery.
Incessant rain made it hard for both sides to gain a foothold in the game, resulting in a lack of clear-cut chances after the interval.
Mossley occupy 11th position in the table on 29 points, with at least two games in hand on most sides.
Boss Shaun Higgins was satisfied with the point. He said: "The weather was terrible and, apart from the goals, neither goalkeeper had a shot to deal with all afternoon.
"We like to pass the ball around, but the conditions dictated the quality of the match.
"Warrington have been flying of late and are a strong side, so all things considered it is a point gained for us.”
IN Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One, Chadderton’s game against Ashton Town and Atherton Collieries’ visit to Oldham Boro were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
