Angling: TEENAGER Aiden Bordiak enhanced his reputation with victory in the latest round of the Chadderton Mill AC Winter League on the club water.
The Tight Lines rod is on course for a bright future in the sport, according to series organiser Lee Humphries.
And he displayed his talent from peg 15, where he caught five carp on the tip and maggot, plus eight skimmers on the pole, for a level 14lb.
Former Midlands tackle dealer and organiser of the famous River Severn open matches, Jim Evans, was the runner-up.
He attracted a superb net of silvers, which included some big ide, on the pole and bronze maggot up and down in the water at six metres.
Humphries (GTI Matchman) was third-best with a 11lb net, which featured two carp on the tip, as well as 5lb of silvers on the pole and maggot at 16 metres.
Mick Tighe was fourth with 9lb of pastie-sized carp on the pole and maggot in the last hour.
OLDHAM anglers past and present are in top form.
Mark Lucas landed the Brookside Fisheries open match on the Snake and Willow lakes.
Drawn on peg 20, he used pellet at 11 metres for small carp and f1s to weigh in 22lb 10oz.
Dave Edwards (Rochdale Angling) bagged 21lb of mostly f1s.
ROYTON’S Keith Smith enjoys plenty of success on the North-West circuit.
In the Northwich and District Anglers open on the Dredger length of the River Weaver, he topped an impressive field with an 11lb 11oz net.
Smith had two bream in the 3lb bracket, plus half-a-dozen skimmers on groundbait feeder and double-red maggot mid-river.
Second-placed Simon Wilkinson included two bream in his 7lb 11oz net, while Frank Slater’s 3lb 13oz was good enough for third place.

Venue Guide
Park Lake: Ice melted, but sport is still a struggle. Use bread punch, bronze maggot or pinkie sparingly. Day tickets available on the bank.
Huddersfield Narrow Canal: Slaithwaite area for silvers, although latest match was rock-hard, with only two anglers breaking the pound barrier. Bread punch is your best option.
Rochdale Canal: Free of ice, but be wary. Fish do not require much feed. Behind the Rose of Lancaster pub as good as anywhere. Punch and pinkie the best baits.
Ogden Reservoir: Day tickets on the bank at £5 or from Tight Lines at £4.
Chadderton Mill Lodge: Some anglers struggled in last week’s match while others bagged up. Remains the area’s best water and fish should move around a bit more with ice gone.
