MOSSLEY romped to a 4-0 win at Radcliffe Borough in the Evo-Stik League Division One courtesy of four second half goals.
Mike Fish broke the deadlock from the penalty spot 10 minutes after the interval, before Matty Kay doubled the advantage just after the hour mark.
Danny Egan put the outcome beyond doubt with an 89th-minute strike, and Kristian Dennis completed the scoring in injury-time.
Mossley boss Shaun Higgins said: “We were kicking uphill in the first half, so if you had offered me a 0-0 scoreline for the break I would have taken it.
“It is pleasing to score four goals, but I am just as happy that we managed to keep a clean sheet, because it is important.
“We are on a good run at the moment, with five wins and a draw from the last six games, so there is a buzz about the place as you can probably imagine.
“We have plenty of tough games coming up. At the end of the month we should have a good idea of where we are going to finish this season.”
CHADDERTON went down to a 1-0 defeat at AFC Blackpool in the Vodkat North-West Counties League Division One.
The away side played with 10 men for the last half-an-hour, after Dave Glynn saw red for raising his hands to an opponent.
Ross Brown struck for the hosts with just eight minutes remaining, but Paul Buckley’s side can feel unlucky to have come away empty-handed.
Buckley said: “We played very well against an organised and talented side.
“Their manager said we are the best team they have faced this season, which speaks volumes.
“The red card was harsh because he did not strike their player. Dave just shoved him.
“But it was just one of those days, nothing went for us. We have to move on and bounce back.”
OLDHAM Boro suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to AFC Darwen in NWCL Division One.
Steve Lee gave the visitors the lead three minutes after the interval, and Karl Turner sealed the victory with a 90th-minute strike.
Boro boss Tony Mills believes his side’s efforts were hindered by a difficult playing surface.
He said: “We should have won the game to be honest.
“Before their late goal, they had had one shot on target, which was the goal. We dominated for long spells.
“The problem was, the pitch was very heavy and we do not have a team of big lads.
“We like to knock the ball about, but it just was not possible. Darwen played the long ball game and it worked for them.”
