Angling:

CHADDERTON angler Alan Dawson is in the form of his life.

The Gilders rod managed two wins from three visits to Brookside Fisheries over the festive period.

Dawson’s amazing run started in a match against 47 of the North-West’s best anglers.

Situated on Snake Lake, he won with single maggot at nine metres, which accounted for nine f1s in a 9lb 14oz bag.

The next match at Brookside tempted 45 hearty soles, and again Dawson did the business.

Employing the same tactics, he landed 20 ide in a 6lb 12oz bag.

Monday’s open gave Dawson his third pay-day, with fourth place and a section win.

He used the nine-metre pole and maggot for a brace of f1s and a few ide for a level 5lb.

CHRIS Shaw took top spot in the Chadderton Mill AC open on an iced-over club water.

Using pinkie over groundbait at five metres, he enticed a fish every put-in for 14lb of roach, rudd and skimmers.

Conrad Taylor (Gilders) was second with a 13lb catch which included for carp and ide on maggot at nine metres.

Ian Cox was third with 11lb, while Phil Hulme was fourth thanks to 9lb of ide on nine metres of pole and maggot.
