Angling: FATHER and son Pete and Lee Humphries are in cracking form.
Lee claimed top spot in the Partridge Lakes 100-peg open thanks to 60 f1s taken on maggot at 11 metres for a superb 30lb 7oz.
Pete, employing the same tactics, was just a fish behind with 30lb.
He carried on his good run with first place in the Partridge Lakes All Team Championship — and picked up £180 for his efforts.
Using maggot down the track, Pete enticed an all f1 net of 37lb 8oz.
And he made it back-to-back wins in the 100-peg open.
He caught 15 f1s on pole-fished maggot to acquire £190 this time.
DARREN Webb’s match-winning net of 24lb 6oz in round two of the Chadderton Mill AC Winter League highlighted the quality of the water.
Drawn on peg 15, Webb had to break the ice before deciding on a pellet and nine-metre pole attack.
The plan paid off as he attracted eight carp in the 3lb range.
Graham Mitchell (GTI Gilders), the winner of round one, had to settle for second-best.
Opting for single and double-maggot on the deck at nine metres, he had plenty of ide, roach and skimmers as well as two carp for a level 15lb.
Teenager Aiden Bordiak (Tight Lines) continues to impress, and claimed third place off peg 16.
He fished up to the tins for one carp and lots of ide, skimmers and roach on the eight-metre pole and maggot.
Organiser Lee Humphries (GTI Matchman) is on a roll at the moment.
He was fourth, with his maggot at just four metres over the lilies netting a 12lb 14oz catch of ide.
OLDHAM angler Dave Mellor had a great start to the festive period by winning the prestigious Carr Mill Dam Christmas match.
Using the tip and maggot, Mellor caught a dozen skimmers for an 18lb 4oz net.
Jim Evans (Royton), well known for his prowess on the River Severn, was second with 14lb 5oz of silvers taken on pole and maggot.
BOB Harrison lifted the latest Pilsworth Fisheries open.
The Team HB rod used his favourite pole and maggot approach for mainly carp with the odd silver fish thrown in for 16lb 8oz.
Harrison was some way ahead of Kevin Crowshaw, who had a 6lb 8oz net, which included small carp and silvers.
MIKE Risby is renowned in these parts for his chopped worm and caster approach.
And he used this tactic to good effect in winning a star-studded Bradshaw Fisheries open match.
Risby weighed in 13lb 12oz of silver fish to finish in front of Chris Hogan’s 9lb 14oz net and Ged Smith’s 9lb 5oz. stretch
