Kennedy calls tune for high-flying Cot

SNOOKER: MARTIN Kennedy led the way with a break of 39 as Little Cot ‘A’ produced another clinical display in the Oldham Amateur Snooker League.
They recorded an emphatic 5-1 win at Blue Club ‘B’ to stay top of the table.
St Paul’s won the battle of second versus third as they brushed aside Moss Inn ‘A’ 5-1. Nick Broadbent registered a break of 35 for Saints, who are now Little Cot’s nearest pursuers.
Breaks of 37 and 38 from Danny Reece helped Deaf ‘B’ to a 4-2 victory at home to Blue Club ‘A’.
Meanwhile, Sunday sees the best players from the Oldham Amateur League take on the cream of the Huddersfield League at Springbank Bowling Club (1.30pm).
The friendly match is over the best of seven frames, and spectators are welcome.
OLDHAM Snooker Academy ‘A’ overcame their ‘B’ team 4-3 in a Manchester Snooker League thriller.
All square at 2-2, it was left to Sajid Zamurd (‘A’) and Kamran Saeed (‘B’) to fight out the last frame in the Division One clash.
Saeed led by 45 points at one stage, but Zamurd hit back to forge a 10-point advantage with the pink and black left on the table.
A poor safety by Zamurd let in his opponent, who cleared the remaining colours to win the win frame, but lose the aggregate by two points.
Abu Miah and Tanveer Hussain were the other ‘B’ team winners, while Ian Atherton and Farakh Ajaib were successful for the ‘A’ team.
CRICKET smashed their opponents for six in the Saw-Tech Snooker League.
They climbed to fifth place in the table after sweeping aside basement boys Crompton Cons 6-0.
Moss Inn are up to second spot after a 4-2 defeat of Tara Leisure.
They took the first four frames, but were unable to field a fifth player and so lost the aggregate.
Comrades ‘A’ remain the team to catch after a 4-2 win at Cartshaft.
