MOSSLEY head to Northamptonshire for Saturday’s Carlsberg FA Trophy, second-qualifying round tie at Brackley Town on the back of a 10-match unbeaten run.

The Lilywhites extended their impressive record with a 4-0 defeat of Leigh Genesis at Seel Park last night in round two of the UniBond League Challenge Cup.

Mossley, who drew 1-1 against Leigh in the league last Saturday, were too strong for their opponents who made nine changes from the game three days earlier.

Steve Moore put Mossley ahead in the 27th minute, slotting the ball home off an upright after being released by Ben Richardson.

Sam Walker struck the crossbar in the opening period, but it was after the break that Mossley took charge.

Free-scoring midfield man Matty Kay popped up in the six-yard box to flick home Mossley’s second from a Richardson cross.

Richardson cut the ball back for Moore to fire home his second and Mossley’s third and the rout was completed when Kay pounced after Leigh ’keeper Dean Porter could only parry Richardson’s shot. It was Kay’s 12th goal of the season.
