Sajid’s high score
SAJID ZAMURD recorded the highest break in the Manchester Snooker League so far this season as leaders Oldham Snooker Academy ‘A’ came from behind to beat Hazel Grove Con Club in a thriller.
All square at two frames apiece but trailing by 28 points on aggregate, the local side had it all to do in the decider.
And when T Reeves opened up with a break of 25, Oldham looked to be heading for defeat against their close rivals.
But Zamurd stormed back to register a magnificent clearance of 77 to clinch victory and an extra two points for the aggregate.
England international Michael Wild had earlier posted a break of 75 in his win, while Craig Atherton came out on top in his match to make it 2-2 on the night.
A four-point aggregate victory proved crucial as Oldham ‘B’ overcame Cheadle SC 4-3. Oldham’s successes came from Nadeem Hussain and Z Ali.
