Mossley welcome return to league action

MANAGER Chris Willcock is welcoming in-form Mossley’s return to UniBond League, division one north action at Leigh Genesis tomorrow.

The Lilywhites’ last three matches have all been in cup competitions and, with two more cup clashes lined up for next week, only two of their seven matches in October will have been in the league.

The distractions of the knock-out competitions have meant that Mossley, who are unbeaten in their last eight games, have slipped down the league table.

“It’s great to be back in league action and I am looking for three points in order for us to start climbing up the table,” said Willcock.

It will be Mossley’s first visit to Leigh Sports Village, the new home for Genesis, who not so long ago played in Blue Square Premier until they were hit by massive financial troubles.

Willcock said: “Leigh have a new stadium and a fantastic pitch which should suit our passing game.

“They are higher than us in the league so it will be a tough game, although we drew 1-1 at home against them early in the season.”

The Mossley manager warned that complacency is his team’s biggest danger as they seek to extend their winning run.

Willcock was furious with Mossley’s first-half display in the Manchester Premier Cup in midweek, even though they ran riot in the second period to win 4-0.

Willcock looks set to name an unchanged starting line-up for the fourth successive match.
