MOSSLEY recorded a resounding 3-1 victory at Spalding United in the first round of the FA Trophy and returned home from Lincolnshire £2,300 richer for their success.
The Lilywhites extended their unbeaten run to seven matches as the Tulips wilted after an impressive display by the Seel Park side.
Mossley also had to display character after they fell behind to a second-minute goal from Ben Garrick.
It was not long before Mossley were on level terms as Steve Settle and Steve Moore linked to set up top scorer Matty Kay who struck again on the half-hour with his ninth goal of the season after being put clean through on goal by a perfect pass from Nick Allen.
Mossley had victory sewn up four minutes after the restart when Moore provided the assist for Settle to score their third goal.
CHADDERTON finally recorded their first home win of the season in any competition as they defeated AFC Blackpool 2-0 in the first division of the Vodkat North West Counties League.
And it was a merited victory as Chadderton had the chances to have triumphed by a wider margin as they chalked their first win in eight league and cup matches.
Chadderton made the breakthrough after 37 minutes when the AFC Blackpool keeper fumbled a Chris Pauley shot and Martin Love fired home the rebound.
They doubled their advantage just short of the hour when a Marvin Walters header from a corner was put into his own goal by defender Dayes.
In the second half, Andy Pheby, Love Liam Radcliffe and Ian Hulme all went close, while Blackpool also had their moments as they were twice denied by super saves from Lee Swanson and struck the crossbar.
OLDHAM TOWN showed character to battle from a two-goal deficit to draw 2–2 at home to Eccleshall in the first division of the Vodkat NWCL.
Manager Tony Mills was rewarded for making three half-time substitutions as Town staged a stirring comeback after the restart.
Town, who had a difficult week through off-the-field events, had been looking for a pick-me-up. But when Nick Oxley and Karl Williams gave the Staffordshire side a 2-0 lead it looked as though they were set for more misery.
The local side was far more purposeful in the second period and was rewarded when Duncan Philbin headed home a Nick Alexander cross with 20 minutes left.
That was quickly followed by an equaliser from Ryan Baldwin who latched on to a through ball from Stevie Owens, and Town could even have snatched victory in the closing stages when Stuart McGill had an opening.
