Changes forced on cup hopefuls

CHADDERTON and Oldham Town are set to shake up their teams for tomorrow’s Vodkat League Challenge Cup, first-round ties.

Chadderton entertain AFC Liverpool, the team formed in 2008 by fans of the Anfield club who claimed they were being priced out of watching Premier League football.

Chadderton manager Paul Buckley is aiming to have two new signings in his side as Chris Pauley is suspended tomorrow and Ben Greenidge and Gareth Morris begin three-match bans next week.

Buckley will be forced to make changes as captain Mark Egerton is working, Louis Maynard is at university and Danny Bell, Danny Shaw and John Rogers are injured or ill.

Chadderton reserves are at Irlam tomorrow.

Oldham Town face a lengthy trip to Cumbria to play Holker Old Boys.

“We also have to visit them in the league so we have to make the trip twice this season,” lamented manager Tony Mills, whose side lost 7-3 at Holker on the final day of last season.

“It is a long drive, usually windy and there is a massive slope on the pitch. These factors favour the home team,” he added.

Town’s top scorer Darren Scanlan is working, while utility player Nicky Thompson is on holiday.

MOSSLEY aim to make it five wins in a row when they head for Clitheroe in UniBond League, first division north tomorrow.

After a faltering start, the Lilywhites have climbed to 12th place and also enjoyed wins in the FA Trophy and UniBond League Challenge Cup.

Clitheroe are fourth from bottom, but Mossley will have to be wary as they have already lost to struggling Salford City and Ossett Albion this season.

Mossley have been drawn away to Spalding United in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy tomorrow week.
