HOT-SHOT Darren Scanlon fired Fitton Hill Rangers to the top of David Giblin division one in the D&J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League.

He struck seven times in the 12-4 pounding of Parkside to lift his side above Limeside Athletic ‘A’, who saw their 100-per-cent record wrecked by Westwood.

Athletic were looking for their fifth straight win, but instead had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Red Star are up to fourth after a 9-2 success over Shajahal Unity, while Rose of Lancaster registered their first win of the season with a narrow 1-0 victory at Wellington.

Northside have given way to Rifle Range Royle Blues at the top of division two.

While Rifle Range were beating Famous King George 5-4 — see John Gilder’s Match of the Day — Northside were being held to a 2-2 draw by Royal Oak.

There was one other 5-4 scoreline, with Lowerhouse United ‘B’ overcoming Crompton and Royton.

Lark Inn took their goals tally for the season to 22 after they swept aside Limeside Athletic ‘B’ 8-0, while Oldham United and Old Grey Mare fought out a 5-5 draw.

And the goals flowed in the Springhead Libs versus North Star clash, the former posting a 4-1 win.

Khartoum Northern joined High Crompton CC, who were without a fixture, at the top of the Jack Abbott premier division after a 2-1 win over Failsworth Dynamos.

FC Royton, FC Broadgate and Chaddy End remain in a tie for third place after they all recorded victories — Royton recorded an 8-2 win at Hunt Lane Tavern — while Lowerhouse United ‘A’ defeated Failsworth Athletic 4-1 to move away from the bottom three.
