Slick Oldham have a head for heights

AFC OLDHAM 2005 are riding high in division one of the Lancashire and Cheshire League.
They moved to the top of the table courtesy of a 7-3 win over Newton Heath and Newton’s 3-0 defeat by improving Chorltonians.
Santos tasted victory in division two overcoming New East Manchester 4-2.
After hitting the woodwork twice, Santos’ dominance finally paid off when they went ahead through John Mayall.
But rather than building on their lead, they allowed New East to draw level after the restart.
But the goal spurred Santos into action, with Gareth Smith restoring their lead and Mayall adding a third thanks to a superb 25-yard strike.
Jonny Phillips made the game safe before New East grabbed a second.
HEROICS
With a patched-up team, Oldham Victoria proved no match for high-flying Tintwistle, who ran out 5-1 winners.
Although outfield player Anthony Varley performed heroics as a stand-in ’keeper, he was unable to prevent the visitors from scoring three first-half goals.
Tintwistle added two more before Anthony Morris netted a 75th-minute consolation for Vics, who are still searching for their first point of the season.
Leading 6-1 at the interval, Santos reserves went on to post an impressive 8-2 win at Heaton Mersey reserves.
Dominic Siddall (two), Steven Cass (two), Chris Sarsfield, Chris Bennett, Nathan Parr and Michael Kelly were on target.
Victoria reserves made a rapid start against their Parrswood Celtic counterparts, opening up a 2-0 lead inside 12 minutes.
However, they found themselves 3-2 behind on the hour mark, but were saved by substitute Robin Garside, who made it 3-3 with 10 minutes to go.
