Ellis is handicap six hit

GARY ELLIS collected his sixth open handicap title of the season and £400 when he defeated former Royton player Nick Hopwood 21-10 in the final of the Jack Cuerden Memorial Trophy at St Anne’s ex-Servicemen’s Club.

The Nimble Nook and Tonge star saw off the challenge of Cleveleys-based Hopwood after beating Darren Edmondson (Blackpool) 21-15 in the semi-finals.

PRESTWICH moved to the top of the Inbev Winter Bowling League’s ‘B’ Division at Chadderton Cot following their 9-2 defeat of Failsworth.

Vixens dropped to second place after losing 8-3 to North Chadderton, while Lees/Springhead are looking threatening in third following their 10-1 demolition of Dogwood.

Springbank are second in the ‘A’ Division after their 9-2 defeat of Chadderton Cot.

And Nimble Nook are up to third thanks to a 7-4 victory over New Street.
