Chaddy End Cop a defeat

COPPICE United made the perfect start to their D&J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League campaign — by beating the reigning champions!

United, who lost in three cup finals last season, condemned Chaddy End FC to their second defeat of the season.

They recorded a 5-2 win thanks to a hat-trick from Daniel O’Connell and Yasir Ali’s brace.

High Crompton CC dropped their first points of the campaign after they were held to a goalless draw by Khartoum Northern, but stay top of the table.

Failsworth Dynamos missed the chance to go second as they went down 3-2 at FC Royton, while Hunt Lane Tavern got off the mark with a 4-3 defeat of Failsworth Athletic.

And FC Broadgate enjoyed a comfortable 6-1 win at Lowerhouse United ‘A’.

It’s a case of as you were at the head of David Giblin division one.

Limeside Athletic ‘A’, the leaders, made it four wins out of four after an 8-1 victory at Shajahal Unity, while nearest challengers Fitton Hill Rangers edged out Rose of Lancaster 2-1.

Wellington registered their first win in resounding style — they had previously recorded one draw and three defeats — by sweeping aside Parkside 10-4.

Highfield United are up to fourth after a 2-1 win defeat of Westwood FC.

Northside continue to set the pace in division two after a 4-2 success over Lark Inn.

Rifle Range Royal Blues, in second place, kept up their 100-per-cent record with a 4-1 win at Lowerhouse United ‘B’.

But Springhead Libs and North Star Athletic remain pointless after losing to Crompton and Royton and Famous King George respectively.
