HOLLINWOOD tasted defeat again in division four, losing 50-32 at home to Drighlington 'A'.

Prior to the game, both sides were seeking a first victory of the season. The visitors had been unable to raise a team for their two previous matches, but arrived at Fields New Road with a glut of players.

As both sides began to throw the ball around, it became apparent that the team which made the least mistakes would come out on top.

At half-time the game was tied at 18-18, Andy Roberts scoring his first Hollinwood try to go alongside efforts from man-of-the-match Pete Jackson, Alistair Williams and Darren Cooper, who also added three conversions.

The second half featured more of the same and when Ian Hunt, Alan Dalton and Williams had touched down, Cooper adding a single goal to complete the home side's points tally, the game was still in the balance.

But Drighlington took advantage of some very poor defending to emerge victors by 18 points.

Williams, Cooper and Nield all looked good on defence while making several decent breaks, but the team must get used to moving up in line to turn things round.
