NEWLY-PROMOTED Limeside Athletic ‘A’ are setting their sights on more silverware in the D&J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League.

Boasting a 100-per-cent record, they are in a three-way tie for the lead in David Giblin division one.

Their latest success, a hard-fought 4-3 win at home to Rose of Lancaster, underlined their position as serious title contenders.

Last season’s division two champions have a game in hand over Fitton Hill Rangers, who swept aside Red Star 8-1, and Royton Athletic.

Athletic were protecting a perfect record against Highfield United, but it was the visitors who head for home celebrating a 5-3 win.

The Failsworth derby in the Jack Abbott premier division went to the Dynamos, who were emphatic 8-0 winners over Athletic.

High Crompton CC are setting the pace after a 5-3 victory at FC Royton, while Oddies recorded a 3-0 win over Khartoum Northern. See John Gilder’s Match of the Day.

Old Grey Mare made it third time lucky in division two.

After two defeats, they finally got off the mark with a narrow 1-0 win at North Star Athletic.

Lark Inn hit six against Famous King George, who replied thanks to a solitary own goal, while Limeside Athletic ‘B’ enjoyed a 2-1 success at Springhead Libs.

Northside FC have taken over top spot — Rifle Range Royal Blues were without a fixture — after 4-2 defeat of Crompton and Royton.
