Janet back in county A team

DARTS: LOCAL player Janet Fox has won a recall to the Lancashire county ‘A’ team at the age of 63.
And the Oldham grandmother will play alongside daughter Shereen Downs for Lancashire against Cheshire the weekend after next.
It will be only the second time mother and daughter will have lined up alongside each other for Lancashire.
Janet, still one of Lancashire’s leading women players, had a 22-year stint playing for the county.
But travelling the length of the country to play inter-counties fixtures eventually took its toll and she quit playing for Lancashire.
After a five-year break, however, Janet once again had a yearning to return to play at the highest level.
For the past 12 months she has played for Lancashire ‘B’ but her consistent performances have been rewarded with promotion back to the ‘A’ team.
Janet played the starring anchor role for the Oldham women’s team, winning the last game to earn them a 4-4 draw at home to Milnrow in the premier division of the Lancashire GMC Super League.
It proved an exciting match as five of the eight games went to a deciding leg.
Oldham’s wins were achieved by Shereen Downs (3-2), Tracey Hindle (3-0), Joan Hicken (3-2) and Janet Fox (3-2).
