Swimmers in league success

OLDHAM Amateur Swimming Club got back to winning ways with a fine 58-45 success over Stalybridge Swimming Club in the Central Lancashire Junior League held at the Copley Sports Centre.
In the 9/10 years age group Abbie Mellor, Fleur Mitchell, Amy Cunningham and Olivia Green were victorious in both the 4 x 25 metres medley and freestyle relays.
And in the 9/10 years mixed relays Fleur Mitchell, Daniel Fearnley, Amy Cunningham and Dylan Arzoni were winners of the Squadron relay, with Olivia Green replacing Fleur Mitchell in the mixed freestyle team which also won.
The 12 years and under boys team of Sam Ireland, Kyle Clegg, Michael Entwistle and Sam Marsden had a hat-trick of wins in the 4 x 50m freestyle, medley and squadron relays.
For the girls, Caprice Mitchell, Beth Peak, Caitlin Wareing and Olivia Askew won the freestyle relay and also the medley relay, for which Rachel Brocklehurst replaced Olivia Askew.
They also formed the mixed relay teams who were underfeated in the freestyle, medley and squadron relay events
At 14 years and under, Rhiannon Prestage, Rebecca Lewis, Jessica Fullalove and Olivia Askew had double victories in both the 4 x 50m freestyle and medlay relays.
For the boys in this age group, Jordan Roberts, Peter Cunningham, Sam Hill and Oliver Coverley were winners of the freestyle relay event - the same result achieved by the mixed team of Jessica Fullalove, Jordan Roberts, Rhiannon Prestage and Sam Hill .
In the 16 years and under, the boys team of Harry Entwistle, Damien Bradley, Ian Martin and Ash Ratchford had a brace of victories in the 4 x 50m squadron and medley relays. For the girls, Hannah Clegg, Sophie Kenny, Helen Richards and Jessica Fullalove were victorious in the squadron relay, adding a further victory in the freestyle relay where Rhiannon Prestage replaced Jessica Fullalove.
In the mixed events Hannah Clegg, Harry Entwistle, Sophie Kenny and Ash Ratchford were winners of both the squadron and freestyle relay events.
MEMBERS of Oldham Aquatics Advanced Training Scheme took part in the prestigious A.S.A North West Region Age Group Championships held at the Manchester Aquatics Centre.
In the 11 year age group Olivia Askew was silver medal winner in the 400m individual medley, while in the 12 years age group Jessica Fullalove took silver in the 100m backstroke.
Francesca Chiappe was a bronze medal winner in the 200 metre freestyle.
Oldham Aquatics swimmers were also in the medals at the Manchester Open.
For the 14 year olds, Vicki Garlick captured the gold medal in the 400 freestyle event and collected a brace of bronze medals in both the 100 and 200 freestyle.
In the 13 year age group, Rhiannon Prestage was silver medal winner in the 50 freestyle, adding a bronze in the 100 event.
Jessica Fullalove took gold in the girls 12 years 50 backstroke, adding silver in the 200 backstroke and bronze in the 100 butterfly and 400 individual medley.
For the boys in this age group, Jamie Popelier collected a silver medal in the 50 free and a bronze in the 50 breaststroke.
Olivia Askew captured a pair of gold medals in both the 100 and 200 freestyle events for the 11-year-olds, adding a silver in the 200 butterfly and a bronze in the 400 IM.
