SENSEI Keith Cockburn (pictured), of Shaw Kimura Shukokai Karate Club, has been awarded his 7th Dan in Shukokai karate by the four world chief instructors.
He received this prestigious honour while attending an instructor's course in Germany.
The achievement also marks 40 years of karate training under the Shukokai Karate Federation, an association known for producing students and instructors of the highest standard.
Sensei Cockburn has been instructing at his Shaw dojo since 1980 and two of his students Danyel and Toni Sweekman received their black belts during a Birmingham course earlier in the year.
