AFTER an impressive start to the new Evo-Stik League Division One North campaign, Mossley head out on the FA Cup trail for the first time tomorrow as they travel to near neighbours Glossop North End for a preliminary round tie.
After a campaign of almost constant struggle last time around, the Lilywhites have opened up this term with four points from two games.
However, Glossop will be a tough nut to crack at Surrey Street, having opened up their campaign in the same division with back-to-back victories.
Mossley joint-boss Peter Band said: "We hardly ever seem to get a kind draw in the FA Cup or the FA Trophy.
"Glossop will be really tough for us. I know a few of the lads over there and they've got a strong squad.
"We had them watched in midweek, though, so we know a bit about them.
"We've had a good start to the season so we'll go up there in confident mood.
"This season we've got a good young squad.
"We've got an energetic bunch and there are still plenty of players on the fringes who are waiting to come into the side."
After a thumping 5-2 win at Kendal Town on the opening day, the Lilywhites were pegged back by Colne at Seel Park in midweek when former star striker Mike Fish levelled in the second half to seal a 1-1 outcome.
"We should have beaten Colne," added Band. "Fishy didn't have a touch until the ball bounced to him and he scored."
Mossley have signed ex-Hednesford and Stalybridge Celtic winger Jay Matthews.
* CHADDERTON, who secured an excellent Hallmark Security League Division One opening-day win at Carlisle City last weekend, are not in action tomorrow.
Their next fixture is away at Litherland REMYCA tomorrow week.
