MOSSLEY have enjoyed an encouraging start to their busy pre-season friendly programme, writes SIMON SMEDLEY.

The Lilywhites - preparing for another campaign in the Evo-Stik League Division One North - hammered 1874 Northwich at Seel Park on Saturday.

Elliot Harrison, former Athletic schemer Jack Tuohy (two) and Tom Dean were on the mark.

That result followed a hard-earned 1-1 draw against National League North outfit Curzon Ashton in Mossley's opening pre-season game.

FIXTURES

Liam Ellis was on target in that match.

The Lilywhites' 2017-18 league fixture have now been released, and they open up with a tricky-looking trip to Kendal Town on Saturday, August 12.

Mossley's first home game is against Colne on Tuesday, August 15.

Back on the friendly front, Mossley travel to Winsford tomorrow night, before hosting Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday.

CHADDERTON lost 3-2 at Denton Town in their latest pre-season fixture.

Mark Howard's men travel to take on Springhead tomorrow night for a match that kicks-off at 7pm.

Meanwhile, work has been taking place on re-laying a new playing surface at Chaddy's Ark Fleetech Stadium.

This work, which has been funded by the Football Association, is being carried out by Duncan Ross Ltd, one of the UK's leading contractors working in sportsturf, landscaping, agriculture and greenspace.

It will give Chaddy an unrivalled surface to play on, and one that reflects clearly the direction that the club is going.

It will mean that the pitch won't be available to play the first home games of the 2017-18 Hallmark Security League season.

Details will follow as soon as confirmed about arrangements for these games.
