MEL Whittle claimed a six-wicket haul against one of his former clubs as Shaw returned to winning ways in the Pennine Cricket League Championship.

The local league legend (pictured) bagged six for 22 from nine overs as Friarmere succumbed to 105 all out at Holebottom Clough.

It would have been a lot worse for the visitors from West View but for opener Ishtiaq Hussain's 63.

Without a win since June 3, Shaw lost seven wickets in reply before passing the post in the 36th over.

There were plenty of runs at The Paddock as Royton warmed up for Saturday's Wood Cup semi-final tie with a four-wicket defeat of Werneth.

The hosts successfully chased down a target of 222 with nine balls to spare.

Professional Chirag Khurana struck 79 not out for Royton.

Hollinwood beat Milnrow twice in as many days.

Following on from their Tom Hardman Twenty20 Cup victory on Friday night, Abid Hussain's men made 171 at Lime Lane.

Starting the day in third place, Milnrow were hoping to keep up the pressure on the leaders, but instead slipped to sixth after they were dismissed for 121.

An unbeaten half-century from Danny Anchor - he struck 64 - and valuable contributions from captain Richard Harrington (46) an Imran Khan (39) lifted Moorside to 241 for seven at home to Ashton.

No.3 Siraj Kadodia stood form, hitting 50 not out in reply, but only two other batsmen were able to reach double figures as the visitors were bowled out for 105.

Darren Shadford registered an excellent 139, from 157 balls, as Uppermill defeated Oldham by 124 runs at The Pollards.

The opener struck 10 fours and seven sixes in the his side's total of 260 four four.

Pacesetters Middleton completed a ninth league victory out of 10 games played against Micklehurst at Towncroft.

Stuart Chamley's 53 was the highlight of the visitors' 131. Pro Chris Williams took five for 41.

Middleton got home for the loss of two wickets off the first ball of the 26th over.
