MARK HEFFRON . . . Trafford Park test this weekend
KNOCK-OUT specialist Mark Heffron has revealed that the recent birth of his first child has made him even more hungry for title success.
Oldham ace Heffron, now 25, has successfully shrugged off some issues outside of the ring and is right back on his game, having secured four quick-fire stoppage victories since November last year.
His record now reads 13 knock-out wins in 15 undefeated professional bouts, ahead of Saturday's latest super-middleweight task against Polish tough guy Bartlomiej Grafka at the Victoria Warehouse in Trafford Park.
Heffron insists he has now settled down, and new baby Poppy has given him extra impetus to hopefully go right to the top in boxing, as many punters are predicting.
"I know there's a lot of talk about me on social media, and though I don't get involved in any of that myself, it is nice that people out there are talking about me," said the Shaw-based hopeful.
"I've never been as hungry in my life as I am right now.
"My partner Rebecca has just had little Poppy, and to be honest that's just made me more hungry.
"My baby girl can help push me on to that next level - I'm not doing all this just for myself now.
"I do feel as though I can go right to the top. I've sparred a lot of good fighters, and to be honest I've got the better of them all.
"I don't think I've been into a sparring session where I feel they've got the better of me.
"Of course sparring is just about learning, but I do feel that I'm coming to my peak now and I can't wait to be fighting for titles.
"The support is there for me. I know I've let a lot of people down over the past few years, but now I'm just buzzing that they've all stuck with me."
Also featuring on Saturday's talent-stacked VIP Promotions bill at the Victoria Warehouse are Joe Murray, Ryan Doyle, Jordan Thompson, John Telford, Lee Oldham, McAuley McGowan, Ben Sheedy, Luke Evans, Sean Crowley and Lee Gillespie.
