ANDY KREMNER . . . points victory on return to the ring
ANDY Kremner made a successful return to the ring when he out-pointed Fonz Alexander at the packed-out VIP Boxing Promotions' 'Time to Shine' show at the Bolton Whites Hotel.
Referee Darren Sarginson scored the four-round welterweight contest 39 to 38 in the Delph man's favour, but it had been a more convincing victory than the points suggest.
It marked an end to 18 months out of the ring following Kremner's troublesome shoulder injury.
"To be honest I just wanted to get used to taking a few shots again," he said.
"I did that of course, but I was comfortable in there and I did hurt Fonz quite a few times.
"If it had been six rounds I'm 100-per-cent confident I would have got him out of there.
"I was feeling a lot of nerves beforehand, but it's out of the way now and I want to push towards the Central Area title."
Kremner is up to seven wins from seven in the paid ranks, and he's already eyeing titles and even a potential all-Oldham dust-up against Failsworth's other welterweight - Danny Wright.
"I believe I'm not just the best welterweight in Oldham, I'm one of the best prospects in the country," added Kremner.
'DIVISION'
"I'm still young, and there's not that many people around at that weight.
"I really want to push on now. The division is wide open and I reckon I can win titles at welterweight.
"I like to be in the limelight, I'm a show man, and there is a lot of money for me to earn in this game.
"If Danny Wright came into the equation it'd be a fight I'd be happy to take.
"I've got four years on him, so maybe it's a fight that would make sense later down the line.
"Danny is a good fighter, there would be no bad-mouthing or anything like that. Hopefully a fight will happen one day."
Kremner hopes to return to ring action at the Blackpool Winter Gardens show on July 15.
