Stoppage win, but Wright can do better

EVER the perfectionist, Failsworth's Danny Wright still found a few tiny faults in his performance despite securing a second-round stoppage victory against Ali Wyatt at the VIP Boxing Promotions' 'Time to Shine' bill at the Bolton Whites Hotel.

Wright (20) extended his perfect professional record to four wins from four as he wasted little time in seeing off the Torquay-based journeyman.

Former amateur star Wright is one of British boxing's hottest prospects, but after his latest win he said: "There were a few little things to look at, but at the end of the day it's a stoppage win.

"Maybe I was following a little bit too much in the first round, but I knew what was going to come in the second round.

'WORK RATE'

"I was trying hard to land that nice, perfect shot, and it wasn't quite there, but my work rate was right up there and I kept going in with the bang, bang, bangs.

"In the end I did dictate the fight which is what I'm after, and I took him apart.

"It's another stoppage and that's what we're all looking for."

Wright is now keen to build on his second early victory sooner rather than later.

"I'd like to get out in June if there's anything there, but if not definitely July," added trainer Ben Lancaster's hotley-tipped charge.

"I would love to get on another Frank Warren show due to the extra exposure, but all in all I'm just making the right noises and movements so far.

"Once I go up to six-rounders maybe, and there's someone who's willing to come at me, you'll see a different side to me then."
