What a Good first day for seamer Adam

ADAM Good and Aqib Zulfiqar hit the ground running for Crompton in an emphatic eight-wicket defeat of Greenfield on the opening day of the JW Lees Brewery Pennine Cricket League season, writes KEVIN RICHARDSON.
Zulfiqar and former Royton seamer Good, on debut, took five for 38 and four for 41 respectively as the home side were dismissed for 101 in the Premiership clash. Greenfield were seven for four at one stage.
Crompton reached their target in the 22nd over, with overseas amateur Denis Louis making 49.
Reigning champions Walsden went down to a five-wicket loss at Norden - Simon North took five for 26 and Rehan Udwadia scored 68 for the victors - and while Glodwick restricted Littleborough to 183 for seven at Hare Hill, Nigel Stock's men could only manage 106 in reply.
Stayley's bow in the top flight ended in an 80-run defeat at Rochdale, who made 192 for six from their 50 overs.
Elsewhere, Heyside were too good for Saddleworth at Little Hey Street - the hosts won by seven wickets after Danny Cashin claimed four for 17 - and Austerlands succumbed by 60 runs at Monton and Weaste.
BREATHTAKING START
In the Championship, Jameel Stuart made a breathtaking start for Shaw as he smashed an unbeaten 117 from only 76 balls in a five-wicket success at Royton. He struck nine fours and nine sixes.
Ernest Kemm deputised for Shaw's injured professional, the former Lancashire and England seamer Sajid Mahmood.
Moorside's new paid man Gerrie Snyman (66) and Imran Khan (58) shared in a fourth-wicket stand of 127 out of a total of 211 for six against Uppermill, who were dismissed for 110 in reply.
Oldham got the better of Friarmere by two wickets at The Pollards, while Milnrow beat Micklehurst by 109 runs. Craig Lawrence struck 55 for the latter.
Ashton had a first day to forget as they were skittled for just 23 at Middleton - Michael Pritchard took seven for seven from 10 overs - in response to 261 for five.
