MOSSLEY ended their Evo-Stik League First Division One North campaign on a high with a well-deserved 3-2 victory at Tadcaster Albion, writes SIMON SMEDLEY.
The Lilywhites have flattered to deceive for the most part this season and have flirted perilously above the relegation zone almost throughout the 2016-17 campaign.
However, their final-day win did lift them to 17th place in the table, 10 points and five places clear of the two relegation places.
Goole and Burscough were condemned to the drop to the Hallmark Security League.
At the i2i Stadium, Tom Pratt's goal handed the Lilywhites a half-time lead.
Elliott Harrison doubled the visitors' lead seconds after the restart, before skipper Josh Barrett halved Albion's deficit.
Pratt's second goal after 81 minutes effectively sealed Mossley's victory.
Tom Corner pulled another goal back for the hosts, but the Lilywhites hung on.
CHADDERTON bounced back brilliantly from their midweek Macron Cup semi-final heartbreak with a 4-1 Hallmark Security League First Division win at Ashton Town.
Luke Heron, Aaron Scholes, and Lewis Lacy's second-half double helped Chaddy to a well-deserved three points.
Chaddy have two games left in their season, though the play-off places are now out of reach.
However, should they finish in the top eight, they will qualify for next season's FA Cup.
They are currently ninth, two points behind Prestwich Heys.
Chaddy travel to Atherton LR tomorrow night (7.45pm kick-off), before bringing the curtain down on an impressive first season under new boss Mark Howard with a home game against Eccleshall on Saturday.
